Once in a while I get a message from some rogue Sri Lankan or long-time follower asking me to take pictures in the more ritzy areas of Colombo.
Well here they are!
These photos are from the affluent Colombo 07 and 03 areas. Very few people out and about and non-stop walls surrounding very beautiful large homes.
I may be wrong, but I get the impression that high walls are a by-product of the war. It wasn’t a long time ago that explosions rocked Colombo, and if I had the money, I’d also build a wall around my family to keep them safer. And maybe over the years a high wall has come to symbolize wealth so I don’t see them being removed any time soon.
I like taking photos of people, so photos of neighborhoods inhabited by people who think “walking around is for poor people” will continue to be a rarity.
